Lei entered the Tournament to investigate the cause behind the disappearing martial arts masters. He asked the cop to enter the King of Iron Fist tournament 3, Lei wondered why he would. Falling within H jurisdiction are the strange disappearances of many warriors, Lei was visited by the man who was the father of Kazuya, Heihachi Mishima. 19 years have passed, he has become feared by even the most powerful of crime organizations.
Lei initially appeared in Tekken 2 but has been a part of every Tekken game and spin-off ever since. Lei Wulong is a great example of this as his character is more based on the roles of the action star, Jackie Chan, rather than his looks. Some of them are fairly obvious, like Bruce Lee and Ip Man, while others barely resemble their real-life inspirations.

While chasing a mafia money-laundering ring that a dead colleague left behind, Lei found that the trail led directly to Kazuya Mishima. This is best evidenced by the case that brought him into the series. Lei Wulong is a laid-back detective who never gives up on a case and has been known to follow the leads until he ends up in a conspiracy far greater than he anticipated.
Following Lei's first appearance, each game would have him solving more cases that ended up at the King of Iron Fist Tournament. This would typically lead to another bad guy being captured, and Lei would come out the hero. He would react to situations like Chan's in that he used the environment to his advantage.
Lei's humor comes out mainly through situational comedy, like Jackie Chan. While his planned capture of her failed, he had reclaimed his honor and went back to work with his head held high.Lei would continue his work, chasing down criminals like Jin Kazama and even returning in Tekken 7 to meet his idol, Lucky Chloe. His digging would lead him to the assassin, Nina Williams. Lei was forced on a one-month suspension, and he used that time to compete in another King of Iron Fist Tournament to earn back his honor. Upon winning the competition, Lei learned of a conspiracy to assassinate a boxer during the tournament.
While Jackie Chan may not be in the movies as much as he was, fighters like Lei Wulong honor his legacy and keep his essence alive.
